Cybertruck Reveal

And just as a btw. Did anyone who complains about Zero Hedge having a "Manifesto", even bother to read it. It's quite harmless. And what's a "Manifesto" anyway? Just a fancy word for Agenda. Just like all the damn news channels on the idiot box have. An Agenda. To turn us all into a bunch of unarmed, brain dead, unthinking liberal progressive idiots. That isn't what I am reading below.

our mission:
  • to widen the scope of financial, economic and political information available to the professional investing public.
  • to skeptically examine and, where necessary, attack the flaccid institution that financial journalism has become.
  • to liberate oppressed knowledge.
  • to provide analysis uninhibited by political constraint.
  • to facilitate information's unending quest for freedom.
our method: pseudonymous speech...
anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of the majority. it thus exemplifies the purpose behind the bill of rights, and of the first amendment in particular: to protect unpopular individuals from retaliation-- and their ideas from suppression-- at the hand of an intolerant society.
...responsibly used.
the right to remain anonymous may be abused when it shields fraudulent conduct. but political speech by its nature will sometimes have unpalatable consequences, and, in general, our society accords greater weight to the value of free speech than to the dangers of its misuse.
- mcintyre v. ohio elections commission 514 u.s. 334 (1995) justice stevens writing for the majority
though often maligned (typically by those frustrated by an inability to engage in ad hominem attacks) anonymous speech has a long and storied history in the united states. used by the likes of mark twain (aka samuel langhorne clemens) to criticize common ignorance, and perhaps most famously by alexander hamilton, james madison and john jay (aka publius) to write the federalist papers, we think ourselves in good company in using one or another nom de plume. particularly in light of an emerging trend against vocalizing public dissent in the united states, we believe in the critical importance of anonymity and its role in dissident speech. like the economist magazine, we also believe that keeping authorship anonymous moves the focus of discussion to the content of speech and away from the speaker- as it should be. we believe not only that you should be comfortable with anonymous speech in such an environment, but that you should be suspicious of any speech that isn't.

I stopped reading here... Leave your political insults and views out of this. That leads to personal insults, which leads to closed threads.

I read the first few pages of this thread and skipped to the last couple. I have a difficult time reading a long time.
I agree the Tesla truck is a joke. That thing can't be what they intend to sell. As far as EV vehicles go, I think it is part of an evolution just like hybrids are. One EV vehicle that I did not read about is Fuel Cell vehicles. That is just another type of EV vehicle but can be charged quickly by filling with hydrogen. I see this as the next long term viable transportation power. Once hydrogen is available like the gasoline infrastructure, it will open the doors to make almost all vehicles fuel cell powered.
It still takes power to generate hydrogen but I think the emissions will be easier to control at large hydrogen generation plants. They will need to be a lot more careful about leaks though. Hydrogen is considerably more explosive through a wider range of concetrations with air than gasoline.

Oh the humanity...

Hmmmm why does this look familiar....

But electricity isnt clean energy either. It's made by coal in most of the country... your just passing the emissions from one point to another. Unless you charge your EV with solar, or have your own nuclear reactor your still polluting.

Solar and wind has it’s own environmental issues as well. There is no “free lunch”.

I've already talked about where electricity comes from in the US a few pages ago, so I won't repost most of it. What I will reiterate is that natural gas is now the primary source of electricity generation in the US. The government says coal now provides less than 1/3 of the electricity in this country:

Natural gas is still a fossil fuel, and results in CO2 production, but it has almost no NOx or particulates and fewer hydrocarbons. So it's not perfect, but it's an improvement over coal. That's all any of this is. Change for the better doesn't happen in huge leaps, it's mostly incremental changes. Solar and wind aren't perfect either, but they're cleaner still than natural gas. Something new doesn't have to be perfect to justify its existence, it just has to be better than what we're currently using. There is no free lunch, but some are cheaper and better than others.

So again, EVs aren't perfect, even environmentally. It's actually worse for the environment to make an EV than it is to make an ICE. But they're so much cleaner over their lifetimes, even in the 30% of the time their electricity comes from coal, that they end up being better long term. The cleaner their electricity source, the larger the difference is.

Let's all agree, electricity is pointless...

Let's all agree, electricity is pointless...

For sure. The only good thing about it is that it lets me come here and argue with people. Who needs it for anything else?

I dont use electricity to argue on the internet...

Its not pointless persay.

But its inferior to fossil fuels for transportation.
