Cybertruck Reveal

About 3.5 billion less people on earth, energy and pollution problem solved. STOP BREEDING YOU DAMN PESTS!!!

Planet cant support us anymore let's have more kids. Cant afford to buy food and you live in a cardboard box have some kids. Hey live in a hole in trash pile have kids! Cant breathe the toxic air, kids will fix that!

What I found interesting about this "Reveal" is that it didn't focus on anything that people who use trucks actually care about. Nothing about how much gear it can carry, where do the ladder racks go, load and towing capacity, etc. It was some soy boy's impression of what trucks are about - let's hit the body with a sledge and see if the windows break! WTF cares about that?

Somewhere a Ford employee pissed themselves last night laughing.

Just saw this on Instagram :shok:

That looks like something out of an 80’s movie. Major fail.

.....and ill bet the cost of one of those windows will buy a good, used late OBS/Early superduty that has actual useability.

I wonder how many Tesla super charging stations are in the middle of the deserts of Saudi Arabia...

I want to hear more about this "instant" battery charging. Seems to me that's pretty much a pipe dream at best, and really dangerous at worst.

Doesn't exist in production form at this point but the technology is changing rapidly.

I much prefer plugging in car and going about my night rather than having to stop at gas station, wait in line, get out, pay inside, go back to pump, answer 5 questions just to get pump started.

Bet you wish you had a gas pump at your house that cost 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of gas at the station.

Actually...

I have never once found stopping for gas an aggravation.

However....standing out in the cold plugging in a car or unplugging it...yeah...not something id look forward to. Wrapping up the cord, etc etc.

Once again...another cut and paste defense of EVs.

Pulling over, getting out of your vehicle and doing stuff is not inconvenient?

Plug takes 1 sec. Unplug takes 1 sec. It's not difficult.

Wrap up cord? For what? I have a 3d printed mount. Unplug from car. Plug into 3d mount on wall. No wrapping cord

Also no standing in cold. Charger is in garage so drive onto property, car auto opens garage, pull into garage. Exit car, plug in. Wake up to fully charged car that's also preheated automatically. You don't even have to pull out a key. Just have your phone in pocket and car locks and unlocks automatically.

This is the standard response of those who believe in the religion of progress - technology will fix everything. The issue is not one of technology, rather physics.
  1. You have to store enough energy to move your vehicle several hundred miles, and accelerate up to speed multiple times. It's a lot of energy.
  2. The equation for electrical energy is E=V*A*Time.
  3. Power is the rate of energy transfer, and in electrical form P=V*A
  4. If you want to move a lot of energy, and you want to keep that Time term small, then Power must get really big. You cannot increase V too far above the battery voltage or you have conversion losses, along with other tissues. Increasing the current incurs I^2*R losses, which get very big very fast.
The result is that you will be stuck with a lot of time, for every fill up. It's fine if you can spend all night for every fill up - or at least it is until everyone tries to do that and the grid cannot handle it.

But don't pay much attention to me, I've only been designing electronic products for the electric power grid for 32 years (including big battery chargers). Technology won't save us.
