Custom off-road Front bumper 1992

So my ranger is in the need of some body work and the front bumper is done. I have a factory one from the LMC for not to much when I got the idea todo a Custom off-road bumper and was wondering if any of you have ever done this

Custom bumpers are quite easy to do if you have the equipment and ability. It's definitely cheaper than buying one and it will usually be unique and everyone will want to know where you got it.

I agree with dvdswan, I enjoy designing and building whatever you need. In the end, the satisfaction you get from doing it yourself is what makes it worthwhile. Welcome to the club.

It has been done. But you get to do it your way. Take pictures and share the results with us.

I went a did a few bumpers back in the day... they were never masterpieces. They always did what I built them for though. I was in the dune buggy business and we always had some tubing around... I pretty much used what I had and built them on stock steel Ranger bumpers.

Its not a Ranger but I built mine years ago with a stick welder, which I hadn't done/work with in 20 some years. It didn't come out perfect but its stout, strong and even offers front protection. $50 in material and $500 for powder coat. Offroad shops are selling custom bumpers for 1000-1200 bare metal.

local metal scrap yard. New metal is pricy. The only new metal was the 1"x2"x16", 8" long for each side, for the shackles. 1/4" for the winch and 3/16" plate for the sides.

I think I am going try to build one I have a MIG welder and I can track some plate down so it shouldn’t be to expensive todo

Find a metal scrap yard if there is one available in your area. It will be less expensive.
