Custom Gauge Panel

I am doing this same exact thing in my Gen I. Don't settle with any design until you have it apart, metal cut into shape so that you can visually see if there are any obstructions in the way of the gauges fitting depth wise. Mine is pretty close to being done, I went one step at a time.

After a lot of trial and error / testing, I found this worked the best for cutting out the holes:

Harbor Feight had one for $20.

I have pretty much the same gauges and had a choice of either blocking off the vent that went into the dash panel and dropping a gauge, or cutting and hacking the hell out of everything to get it to fit. I opted to drop the voltage gauge. There just wasn't enough room for all of it and the indicator lights. I'd like the truck to be able to return to stock if need be.

For indicator lights, most are ambigious as to what they are. I bought an assortment (50 pcs) of 4 different colored jewel style indicator lights. 2 green for turn, 1 blue for brights, red for RABS / low brake fluid, etc. Going to implement a CEL, but since I am going to be carbbed, won't be hooked up for the time being. Removing low oil light since my V8 does not have the sensor and seat belt because it's annoying.

You will want a vehicle specific diagram for the wiring. I opted to use 2 computer power supply extensions so that I could easily unplug and plug the dash in (24 pin plug). I am going to chop the two ends and splice into the dash wiring by soldering and heat shink wrapping the resulting connections. I will leave enough wire to put it back to stock.

The speedo cable is still an unknown at this point, but I am getting to that this weekend... :)
