Current draw with key on, engine off

Does anyone have an estimate of how much current draw is on the battery of a 3.0 Ranger with the key on, engine off? I was working on my truck today and listening to the radio and the battery went dead real fast, or so it seemed. The battery is new. I hung my Amp Clamp on it and it was pulling about 8 Amps which did not seem too bad to me. If anyone has ever noticed what the drain on the battery is with just the key on I would appreciate hearing from you. TIA, desertrat

That would depend on what was drawing current.

If only the radio then minimal current draw, 8 amps to me is a high draw for just having the key on and you should determine what is causing this.

What accessories have you added ?

the dome light drains my battery when im working on the interior maybe thats the reason in yours
