Crown Vic?

They should use trans am's for the intercepter. Reliable, fast, stealthy at night. The vic is an awesome car and its huge. Inside and out. Nothing would be cooler then a fleet of trans am's tho with big push bars on the front and a really tricked out paint job.

The Nebraksa State Patrol has a couple LS1 Camaros (probably the quivilant of a Z-28 or SS) for high speed pursuits. They are of course cleverly disguised as V-6 cars as far as exterior bodywork goes..

they haven't made the trans-am for what, 4 years now? I don't think that would work.

As ZMan said those GM cars are no longer in production, and since this is a Ford site, the answer is clear.
Mustang, a real police car not sure where.

But a 1976 Camaro that almost smokes like my Ranger could stay in front of Barracade, which was even a Saleen...:D

They haven't made the Camaro for a couple years too, I haven't seen one for awhile but every so often you see one. Being what they are I don't think they do normal patrols as much as a Crown Vic, so they would in theory last longer.

The Trans-Am was a fancy Firebird, which was a fancy Camaro. Usually they get the cheapest version they can get, and given that a Trans Am isn't any faster than a Camaro they probably wouldn't choose it.

A lot of small town departments started using Impalas a few yeas back. (The newer, front wheel drive ones.) Pretty stealthy, except for the spotlight, which is really obvious.

Some of the larger cities in the twin cities metro area are starting to use chargers. In Brooklyn Park MN, they have alot of them, they're black, have no spotlight, no exterior lights at all, except a few small red and blue lights behind the grill, and the fog lights have red and blue bulbs in otherwise clear lenses.

These guys are really evil.

I've never seen one of these cars driving around, or parked, always behind someone hey just pulled over on the highway.

I will never speed in brooklyn park MN ever again. (Which I suppose, is the desired effect...)

I was laughing pretty hard at that when I watched that movie the first time :icon_rofl:

The little town where my office is just went back to Crown Vics after having Impalas for several years. I guess I think a Crown Vic would be less maintenance than a front-drive but use more gas. Around here it's very hilly so I think a front-drive would be better for winter.
The town I live in has several Crown Vics plus an Expedition.

Indiana State Police still has a few Camaro's around. I don't know how much longer they are planning to keep them but I65 south of Indianapolis down to Louisville must be a special target area because I see a green one pretty often down that way.

3. High Performance Vehicle Detail targets specific events, such as the Indianapolis 500 and
Brickyard 400, as well as highways that have high traffic volumes and/or high incidents of traffic
accidents. Troopers assigned to this detail use high performance, ”unmarked” Chevrolet Camaro
vehicles to target dangerous and aggressive driving behaviors. These vehicles are equipped with two
types of speed timing devices (VASCAR and radar).
