Howdy. I have a 2005 Ranger XLT regular cab with I4, manual. The inner tie rod ends have been squeaking and creaking now for a couple of months. I found out what it was by having a buddy bounce on the bumper while I was underneath listening and touching until I narrowed it down to the right inner tie rod end. I got some other opinions and all agreed. I thought it was just the right one, and had it replaced, then started getting the same noise from the other one. When I started hearing something was at about 40,000 miles, out of warranty, of course. Are the Ford parts so bad they wear out after 40,000????

Anyone else had such problems????

i havnt heard of anyone having problems with tie rod ends. i have heard of MANY people having the exact problem you describe, at the same mileage, with the ball joints...

creaky

Thanks, sludge. I was about to get other tie rod end replaced, but now I don't know. Might just live with it a while.

Tie Rod

I have been having the same exact problem. The tie rods are creaky and I took it to a shop and the mechanic agreed. I decided that I was going to replace them myself. However, I need a special tool to get to my inner tie rods. Did you ever get yours replaced?
