crashed in my Ranger. $hit.

may possibly pick this up. If I get it I will LOWER it a couple inches. Its a 6 speed manual, 7.3 powerstroke, with 187 000 km, 4" exhaust.

Sorry about the truck, i'm glad you guys made it out ok. That's a nice looking truck too btw. Can't beat a good o'l 7.3 with a 6spd. That's about as close to bulletproof you can get. You're right though, i'd either lower it or get some bigger tires.

+1 bigger tires and with your fab-skills open up those wheel wells. Borrow those diamond bits from the dental school. If they'll cut through teeth, they'll cut through anything.

haha funny you mention that. I use diamonds every day. Ive taken a piece of 1/4 " thick 316 stainless and cut through it like it was butter.

I wont go bigger tires really, going to keep this as a daily if I get it. Ill probably lower it enough so that it doesnt look ridiculous.

Yeah - I've got to re-up my insurance plans for the next year. The dentist my wife works for said - Pheewww - just pay for the lab fees if you need a crown. The orthodontist said "Just refer me more patients" Looks like I'm skipping out on $400/year!!! and I get the Hu-Freidy (sp?) scalers left over dental tools to pick o-rings out of things.

its a powerstroke even with bigger tires itll be a daily driver. Itll get 16 mpg with those tires or 15 mpg with 38's. my couzin bought a 2008 or 2009 f350 single axle and puled a 29 ft gooseneck camper from knoxville to ocala fl and got 16 mpg. My expedition didnt even get that.

It has the 6 speed manual tranny, and from what I can tell, is far superior to the auto. Plus I'd much rather drive a standard. They are hard to find though, so I'm hoping to snatch this one up end of the week.

I generally prefer a stick too, but behind a diesel is about the only place I'd rather have an auto. You loose too much boost when you shift, and to me at least, the clutch just never feels right. Those Torqshift transmissions are almost as simple as manuals too. Not a lot to break.

You should find a Torqshift for that thing and give me the ZF for one of my own little projects.

I'm glad everyone is ok, it sure sucks about your Ranger, always looked forward to your pics..

:dunno::dunno:

no offense but that's the ugliest truck I've ever seen..

Great lookin' truck! But it needs to be lowered... and those gay fender flares need to be removed.

does not need to be lowered... needs bigger tires!

Yeah, its not exactly as I would have done it, but just wait. If I get it Ill throw a build thread up here.

Ill make it look as it should, with my styling and ingenuity.

I highly doubt that. I have seen far worse trucks than that, which I think looks good. I agree about lowering 2", but that's about it. I like it though...

This Ranger conversion suddenly comes to mind, currently going on in another thread here:

There is a big gap between the cab and box on the drivers side, and the fenders are into the doors a bit.

That might not be totaled. Unless the frame is bent you should be good.

Usually when the gap between the cab and bed is greater on one side than the other, the frame is tweaked. and by looking at the pictures the VW hit on the front left corner, which most likely tweaked the front left to the right. Which gives reasoning to why the drivers side has a larger gap.

yeah the truck is totalled. Insurance told me minimum $ 11 000 in damages.

Well in that case, I'd buy it back, take the plates off, and make it a dedicated rock crawler. Frames aren't too hard to straighten, body pannels are cheap, and the build would be fun.

How's your buddy doing?
