crackin' plug porcelain

bdab- there was motorcraft in mine when they broke..

edge- no i was not driving it hard when it went..

turbo- it makes a rattle sound everyonce in a while at low rpm especially taking off from a dead stop, and lately when it does rattle the oil pressure gauge will flicker..

if its rattling thats detonation (sounds like marbles bouncing around in the cylinders) and thats breaking the plugs. its either leaning out of overheating......

You might want to check that your anti-knock sensor wire is still attached and check if it's throwing any codes. Also check timing with the spout adapter pulled. Just a guess.

thnx turbo and coco..

today it rattled pretty good (sounded like exhaust was loose and rattling again a frame rail or something but it was tight.. and lasted for about 5 seconds pulling a grade) ill check out the sensor but i need to get ahold of a code reader.. even if it is a bad sensor or such it is still eating oil like no other.. hopefully not a hole in the piston from detonation.. kind of wierd because all 5 plugs read a nice tan color while just #4 was bad.. so if it was a sensor wouldnt all cylinders be in a lean condition?

thanks for all of your replies....i think i have a coilpack issue. i even got a code about it. it seems intermittent too and it's WAY too cold to be outside workin' on it.

talk to you later after i thaw out.

-15 degrees in Idaho with 30mph gusts.

Doubtful that would make it rattle... I'm leaning toward an intake leak causing them cylinders to be too lean..and therefore too HOT.

thanks Jim-
I have checked and found no leaks numerous times,....

HOWEVER, I finally went and got a new IAC, put it on, and the CEL went off on it's own and I've yet to have any trouble. That was a few weeks ago,...don't know if that could be part or all or none of the problem but it was definitely one of the problems....
