Question everything
My windshield cracked from the driver side bottom while parked at work. There's was no impact or previous chip that would have developed a crack.

Do windshields just crack sometimes? Maybe the sun was extra spicy that day?

It's the original windshield so maybe it's an age thing. Crazy a 2000 is almost 30 years old.

On my 2020. The windshield cracked first freeze. They covered it under warranty. Said that some of the sealant had a gap in the bottom and water got in there and froze. Don't think that will be your issue being 26 year old truck. Just sharing my experience.

My 94 cracked from the left lower corner and ran up about 8 inches. On closer inspection there was just a tiny little ding in the molding - hardly noticeable.

I had an 89 F150 from 94 to 04. I parked it in the garage when I got home one night and found a cracked windshield the next morning. My 77 Mustang had the same thing happen once. I assume they were both stress cracks that started while they were being driven and spread as the temperature changed overnight.

Dad's GMC is terrible about cracking them right where the defroster blows onto the windshield along the bottom.

Happened to my 04 Lightning a couple years ago. Drove it one fine day, garaged it, woke up next morning to a crack running from the passenger side bottom up towards the driver's side. Had it replaced, new one cracked with in three weeks, and less than 200 miles. They replaced it again, did a real thorough job prepping the area. Hasn't happened again since.
