so i was at the tire shop today gettin new tires put on when the installer came up to me nd sad my wheel was cracked:dunno:. he showd me it and on the inside ofthe wheel was a 1/16 in. crack strait thru the whole wheel lip/bead! i thought for a minute and wondered when it couldve happend then realize he probly did it when he was breakin the bead because it woulve leaked if it was there before. so now ther not gonna install tires n i got to find a oe alloy wheel. dam stupid people who dont give shit about what their doin.:thefinger:

I did tires for a while, and I can't imagine how you would crack it while breaking the bead unless you were doing it by slamming on the floor or something else incredibly retarded.

me and the ol man think that he mustve put the paw or whatever you call it on the rim intsesd of the tireand compressed it, u can see little scrapes above and below the crack

Maybe, is the wheel aluminum?

i have to agree with sunk, ive been doing tires for 2+ years and you couldnt crack a wheel like that even if you tried, i VERY VERY HIGHLY doubt the tire guy had anything to do with it.

It's rare, but I've seen the lip crack off on aluminum wheels before. The tire won't leak unless it cracks enough to allow the bead to slip off.
