I have a 3 inch crack in the lower right front glass and dont want to spread across the entire windshild so was just wonder the easyist way to redirect the crack

Yep; about all you can do is replace the glass. Cracks don't get better.

You might want to check the firewall for rust...I almost bought two scrap rangers for parts but then found the firewall was so rusted that the windshield cracked...according to the owner they both had the same problem...rust ate away the firewall (windshield) support and they were not supported properly...

Not sure why but I haven't seen the same thing on US models...maybe they use better salt or just better protection...

Anybody else seen this???

Any auto glass place can drill a hole at the end of the crack and then do a chip repair. In my neck of the woods it cost $50 cash or most insurance company's pay $65. I did it to mine and it held for 2 years till I hit it with a hot power washer on a cold day. I then cut a windshield out of a Ranger and put that in it. RB

Smaller ones can be fixed, 3" long though I kinda doubt it.

Mine did the same thing. Lower right corner just started from the bottom of the glass about 2" from the edge. It has progressivly gotten worse and now went up about 9" and over to the side edge where it stopped.

It doesn't leak, so I ain't messing with it.

whats an inspection?...lol. whio cares

I Have DonE This To A Few Cars And Trucks, I Found This $.99 Windshield Repair Kit At Wal-mart That Has Everything You Need To Keep Chips From Spidering Or Creaks From Getting Longer. It Uses This Glue Stuff And Some Clear Plastic Sheets That You Lay Over (creaks: End-over-end) The Chips, Let The Glue DRY, TheN Straight Razor The Sheets Off. It Helps The Imperfection In The Windshield From Being So Noticable And It Has Worked For Many Seasons On Both Trucks. I Think Wal-mart Still Sells Them.

We do rockchip repairs at the dealership I work at. We use a UV drying windhsheild resin that we press into the chip with with a special tool. Just puting the resin over the chip isn't going to do anything unless you have a way to force it into the crack. Plus it looks like crap if you have any moisture in the chip, we heat them with a heat gun to evaporate the moisture out and also to expand the glass so when it cools it helps suck the resin into the crack. This method is no good for cracks, only chips.

I just got mine replaced for $175.
