CPS/syncro question.

while any DIS v-6 could potentially be effected (i HAVE seen a few 4.0 CPS's go too), 3.0's starting around the early '00's seem to be most at risk.

I bought my '97 with a P0341 code and a few days later the magnet fell out and the code changed to P0340 <wince>; I've spent some hours over the last couple weeks trying to figure out exactly how I'm supposed to work on it, given I can only get one hand back there at a time (while sprawled across the top of the engine)... any suggestions ?

What size are the sensor bolts ? neither 5mm or 6mm seem to fit.

Has anybody ever successfulyy glued their magnet back on after it fell off? :) (seriously, a couple days after I got a mysterious clanking sound I found a one-sided magnet in the driveway, intact)

(how can I post a pic to make sure it's actually the CPS I've got and not some other random engine-bump)?

On the bright side I've fixed the w/washer and the courtesy lights.

NT, the sensor bolts are 5.5mm, and the synchro hold-down
is 10mm. And you're right, there's only room for one hand, but that's
all you need. An extension helps to reach the hold-down bolt.

The sensor's so inexpensive, it wouldn't pay to glue the magnet
back on. It sounds like you need a new synchro anyway. Once
there's enough wear to snag the magnet, the synchro's trashed......

Thanks ROE; I'm working up the nerve to have at it. My mechanic suggested I do it myself which means either he has confidence in my abilities or thinks I'll screw it up and he'll make a fortune off of fixing it :icon_twisted: (just kidding: good guy, good mechanic). From the diagrams it attaches to the oil pump somehow; hopefully that won't screw anything up.

Can't recall a 5.5 in any of my sets: looks like I gotta hit the socket singles bar at the local depot.
