Couple questions i have

You won't be running a 14" round filter, so it's irrelevant. JMCLEEK assumed you were running a 14" round filter.

That's why i said that (among other things) it depended on the air filter housing

I said it once already, some guys find that the large Cap HEI hits part of their intake manifold. But it's rare.

*funny anecdote- the first time i even dealt with one of these was years ago. A friend called me and asked "how to install, and wire up a gm style HEI". I thought it was on a Chevy so i gave this mechanically dis-inclined buddy step, by step instructions over the phone on how to do it. You know "crank it over until the front driver side cylinder is at TDC" and the Chevy firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 so i said "route the second wire to the back passenger cylinder, the third to the second one back from the front on the passenger side. . .etc."

He got it timed enough to run,and brought it over to have me final-time it. And i was like "wait. . . That's a mustang"

I stared blankly at it for like 5 full minutes mumbling "how can this be running. . .i told you how to time a Chevy"

I pulled out a piece of paper, and brainstormed.
THAT'S WHEN I REALIZED THAT THE FORD, AND CHEVY HAVE THE SAME FIRING ORDER LOL.

Ford uses several firing orders.

No spacer on mine aside from the spacer between the carb and intake, it is like 1/2" and is pretty standard issue to prevent heat soak between the engine and carb. You can run the old points style cap if that what tickles your fancy too.

Oh my apologies, let me word it slightly differently to make you feel better. :thefinger:

The ford 302 (non h.o.) firing order is the same as 1st/2nd gen gm small/big block when the same cylinder numbering is used

Why was that even worth commenting "uh. . . Ford uses several firing orders cuz you know, i know stuff too" :icon_idea:

So somebody didn't find your long rambling post and try to time their engine the same as a Chevy. :icon_thumby:
