This is my plan!
in my 83
Replace seats with leater racing seats
Remove carpet and dyno line the interior
repaint all the plastics and dash

Now my q's

The seats im looking at are taller becuase racing seats
and the bracket for them are flat i think all the way across the bottom
what should i do?

Dyno line! im cheap... whats a good cheap way of lining the interior... i saw some stuff at walmart for like 38 bucks... but i mean its walmart bedline...
and once done what do you do with your wires running across the floor?

And how do you get the dash off the 1st gens... not the whole thing just the top part that goes over the guages and such...

thanks for reading and your help

first, get a good brand liner... Herculiner, Rustoleum Road Warrior, etc. did the wal-mart Duplicolor/Plasticote stuff and it sucks big time. just lift the wires and fasten them out of the way till your done with the bedliner, then put them back. you might have to move them some because of the seats you're installing.

for the dash, pop out the ash tray and pull off the light switch and don't forget to push the switch back in or your lights will be on. actually, it's probably best to disconnect the battery ground before you start. then just snap out the lower panels with the chrome trim. the screws are under them. then take out the screws on the underside of the dash pad where it over hangs. last take out the 4 screws up by the defrost vents, then lift it up and pull it out. that will give you access to all your gauges and everything else under there. just did this yesterday to mine.

can't help you with the seats.

good luck!!

no no no not the dash.... the outer dash thing... like my trucks red so the red dash looking thing hows that come off?

my directions will leave all the gauges, heater controls, radio, etc. exactly where they are in the dash. only the top padding and the metal shelf that goes to the windshield will come out. they are attached and have to come out together. you may have to pop off the speaker grilles, but if the speakers are oem, they should be fine leaving them in.
