Coronavirus

No, useful things supported by science.
So a few hundred million vaccinations with a 95% reduction in infection rate isn't science?

Pack your insane, harmful garbage up and go somewhere else with it.

Please, redact that statement. Pacemakers?plastics- artificial hearts? Dialysis machines…let’s not forget some of the tools and devices that science provided. Therapies that put certain cancers into remission, those scientists that use “science” have also saved some loved ones in this forum and I’m sure your family as well.

Oh so like crystals and spells and stuff?

or maybe sugar cubes? (think: early 60s)

EDIT: that's how I remember the Polio vaccine being administered when I was in an elementary school

disclaimer:, it was about 60 years ago, and the 'ol organic memory bank ain't quite what it used to be

perhaps some sugar in your tea, what are these crazy questions that they're asking of me - 3 dog night, Mama told me not to come

Lysergic acid diethylamide

Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
Towering over your head
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
And she's gone
Lucy in the sky with diamonds

- The Beatles, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, 1967

The Beatles make even less sense when you read the lyrics...

Hard to believe it's been 14 months already...

What's even harder to believe are some of the impacts this has had on us.

The Beatles sucked back then, too, but they sold a pile of records to 12 year old girls. I like McCartney and Ringo, George was a good guitar player, and Lennon wasn't talented enough to lug equipment for the Rolling Stones or Cream but he thought he walked on water.

The Beatles are the most overrated band in history.

The Beatles earlier stuff was ok, but they’re for sure not top 10.

Like everything else, science's reputation has been damaged over the years, being affected by politics and money. They certainly have had successes, but they have had their failures also. All you have to do is turn on the TV and you will soon see a group of lawyers that have a class action suit against some drug company because people taking some sort of drug invented by science are having problems.

I certainly would not give up on science and say it's a bad thing because they had some failures, but I would give people with doubts about science a little less pressure to drink the koolaid till they are ready.

I remember a guy saying roundup was so safe you could drink it on TV... IIRC he even drank some.

Wonder how his day is going...

I think you're confusing science and business a bit. Science says you made a defective and dangerous product, business says keep selling it anyway...

To be fair, most science is funded by business, and exists primarily for the benefit of the business.
