Don't treat a public health crisis as a conspiracy theory and expect people to believe you're capable of logic, reason, and rational debate. The two are incompatible.

Calling an idea a "conspiracy theory" is an attempt to prevent discussion of certain ideas by implying that those who discuss them are to be publicly shamed and associated with crackpots, etc. It is a fundamental logical fallacy used by those who cannot defend their positions. Humans do in fact conspire, its a fundamental human behavior we've all witnessed and participated in. It's unfortunate that you cannot address the ideas and instead attempt to prevent discussing them.

Further, people seem to be incapable of considering more than one truth at the same time, and seem unable to entertain the idea that covid is a potentially dangerous virus to some people, but at the same time many are using it to advance other agendas. Both are obviously true.

While my views have not changed, I realize there are strong emotions and a lot at stake in regards to this crisis on all sides, and people get upset.

I would point out that if you encounter ideas you find to be absurd and stupid on their face, then they should be quite easy to counter with minimal and reasonable logic and rhetoric. If you find that you are unable to accomplish that, then perhaps you should re-evaluate your initial assumption.

There is strong feelings on both sides of this subject and as a result, tempers can flair. We just ask that everyone keep in mind this is an open forum and the liberties that the Tailgate gives do not apply here. Opinions are welcome, it is part of the reason forums like this exist. When things get one hot under the collar, I ask that one step back and consider their response and where that response takes place before doing it. Whether one is 100% correct or wrong doesn't preclude adhering to the policies and rules set by the forum and we as moderators and administrators do not enjoy getting placed in a position to do something about it since we too have opinions for or against one side, the other side, or both sides in the argument. Please don't place us in that position so we too can enjoy the forum.
