Coronavirus

I work with my company's plant in Wuhan China.
Basic timeline was it got bad at Chinese New Year, they are coming back to work last week = 6 weeks.
IMHO, I don't think we can beat that - any attempt to relax vigilance early will just set us back.

I totally agree with being vigilant... this isn't a time to relax. In fact I think it should be tightened up more for longer at this point. Seems many aren't taking it serious enough... those people need to take a serious look at Italy.

Had a Russian co-worker once tell me that "Americans tend to step on the same rake twice."

I find this to be entirely correct.

I would have to agree... I about crash landed twice yesterday on the same jack handle.

I made the dreaded trip to the store today to stock back up. Normal traffic on the roads and business as usual. Neighboring Dallas County has a shelter in place order. Texas can't unify and get on the same page.

I'm finding pretty much the opposite here.

Hardly any traffic... very small crowd at Walmart (even though the store selves wouldn't indicate that)… and perhaps the worst thing... is that last weeks numbers are in for last weeks sales at my pizzeria... down about 30%. We decided to shorten hours of operation by four hours a day. Remaining open only when people seem to be using our services.

I made a supply run yesterday, traffic was lighter. Grocery store was swamped.

It is going to be interesting around here. Generally older population but most people are going to be considered "essential" Ag, infrastructure, medicine, truck driving... after that you are down to lawyers, insurance saleseman, hair stylists/barbers and tatoo people. There isn't a lot of fat to cut as far as getting the masses to stay home.

I've seen videos of beached crowded with college students on spring break while we're supposed to be staying home and away from other people. Aren't those knuckleheads the people that Bernie thinks should have "free"(paid by the taxpayers) tuition? I didn't get a spring break at that age, I was working at a service station from 6am to 4 pm Monday through Saturday- my base week was 60 hours- and late March through mid April I'd often work until 8 or 9pm during the snow tire removal system.

We were WAY down on traffic all last week. Traffic is usually ridiculous around here and a good 80% down. I'll see what it's like tomorrow when I have to go in for a bit. The quick run to the takeout place Saturday was noticeably sparse too. I think my wife has to take a run to the grocery store so we'll see how that goes.

You just can't fix stupid... no matter how hard you try.

I absolutely agree, but the taxpayers shouldn't have to pay them to be stupid.

Unfortunately, some if the taxpayers elected them.

Interesting thing I just heard n the news... seems there is a big push to de-populate jails in the Chicago area. A couple jail personal were diagnosed with Covid-19... so letting non violent offenders out to provide better social distancing within the jail.

Amazing!
