Coronavirus

Around here the household goods isles are bare, no paper products of any kind. No bottled water, can foods were low but still there, and the pharmacy isles were picked pretty clean but no real shortage of food. I grabbed some milk, some frozen dinners, and 4 dozen clams. People are definitely getting stranger every day though.

I dont understand how places can be out of milk? Milk gets delivered daily and you cant hoard it. There's no logical reason for anyone to buy more milk they can drink in a few days. Do they think buying milk in bulk is gonna turn out well? :icon_confused:

you can safely freeze milk. so it can be hoarded if 'ya got a big freezer.

I don't think the day care can charge you for days THEY can not take the children in, if you book day care for 5 days a week and YOU choose not to drop off the child then you would still pay.

If you pay monthly then they should give you credit for the days they can not open, not a refund but certainly a credit for those days

Doesn't matter if its a natural disaster(Act of God), a fire, or Government mandated closure, if they can not provide the service paid for then they need to compensate people that have pre-paid

another activity affected is vacations. my son & family had scheduled a week at gulf shores Alabama in April.
they called today to cancel and get a refund. the hotel/resort refused to grant the refund even though it was within the
cancellation window.
son's wife got on the phone, said forget the cancellation, we'll be there.....
"oh by the way I work at U of M hospital, we have several Covid-19 patients here now"

refund was promptly granted.

At the grocery store a bit earlier today... I simply can't believe what I saw. Or should I say didn't see.
agreed. went to Kroger and it was wiped out. no meat, no canned goods, no bread.

I'm somewhat annoyed by this situation here too.

State government has mandated a shutdown for daycares. Some can get waivers if they have kids of medical personnel. Ours didn't, and they are closed now, but they expect us to keep paying.

Medicine and day care are the only two businesses I know of where I can get a bill and they expect me to pay for services I never actually received. Any other business that's called theft by fraud. I want to know how to get in on this.
Insurance is another business you pay for and hope you never need.

Speaking of insurance... Our pizzeria insurance policy will pay for loss of sales for many reasons. Like equipment failures... power outages or perhaps if someone drove their vehicle into my lobby and I had to close for repairs. They sent a memo yesterday and the main point of the memo was to point out that this situation... with store closures due a virus... was not an event through some clause within the policy... that lost revenue would NOT be covered.

Kinda makes me want to drive my truck straight through the damn place!

Yesterday, the Mayor of Oklahoma City ordered all bars, malls, private clubs, restaurants, theaters, etc. closed until April 16th. Even uttered the words shelter-in-place may be necessary. Things are getting out-of-hand. Fortunately, I saw the need, three weeks ago, to start stocking up on certain items. So I'm set.

Yeah... shelter in place is the next step for a lot of places. New York is expected to announce SIP soon.

The local Innisfail UFA cardlock gas station has closed their shower facilities. Owner blamed corporate. I phoned the next one in line and they are open during regular business hours. Owner gave bullshit excuse. If you're going to use the virus and employee protection as an excuse, own it. Don't pass the buck.
Truckers need a place to clean up before going out in public.

First death in Illinois and two people in a nursing home infected. Three people infected that work air traffic control at O'Hare airport. Southwest airlines cancelled all flights.

I don't think it will be but a couple days before everything gets shut down here and a shelter in place order is made.

And burboun...
