My Block heater is leaking coolant really bad, it's gone from a small trickle to losing all coolant in about 5-10 min of idiling.

How do you change these? I've got a spare diesel parts engine in my garage, but unsure how to get the old heater out. Could I just install a plug?

Well, I've never worked on a 4D55, but most block heaters that I've dealt with screw in.

Alright, I pulled the dipstick tube out to get at it. It fell out. Removal complete!

Looks like a screw in the middle expands a clamp as you tighten the screw down. Guess i'll go look for a new one.

Had trouble finding a 40mm block heater, but finally found a napa that had it in stock! no more leaks! It's now my Daily Driver!
