coolant leak, can't locate source

I blew one of the small round caps out of the engine block coolant reservoir. Does anyone know where i can get the part to fix it?

I think you are speaking of a "freeze plug". there are several types at most parts houses. Depending on where it came out it may be a real bitch to put one back in there.. If it i really hard then you might purchase one of the EXPANDING ones that you must tighten in place with a wrench.
Lots of times the engine must be pulled to put them things back in. Also if one comes out the rest are highly suspect!!

Have you checked the tube that is pressed into the block for the heater return hose ( i think its the return) its just to the left and above thermostat on my 94. just a thought. Otherwise lower intake manifold plenum, or cyl head gasket. Valve cover gasket?

Getting serious now--leak found@heater hose from water pump...

Getting serious now--leak found@heater hose from water pump. Will replace hose first, then water pump if hose does not fix it. Someone said his water pump was leaking everywhere but from the weep hole. I hope one of the two is the issue. I did observe that coolant does not leak when filling the radiator, but when I started the engine, then Niagra falls started. Thanks, y'all!

After two years, started on second try!

After I filled the radiator, the truck started on the second try, after sitting for two years! Good job, Ford!

Hillary for sale; Arizona

I am moving so I need to sell this truck. 185,000 mi. Only Mobil1 synthetic in engine after break-in. Remanufactured transmission 10,000 miles ago, with shift kit and cooler. New water pump; new power steering pump and both P/S hoses. 2 new front brake rotors included. Two almost new tires in front. 4 OEM 15" rims and 4-16" Jeep steelies included. Dealer retail (which is how I prep my vehicles) $5185; Private party: Excellent $4260; Good $4010; Fair $3485. It is at least "Excellent" condition. You will not find a better cared-for truck in the country. Arizona every day of its life, so no rust. Make me an offer. This is the same truck that Jim Oaks purchased for his current off-road vehicle!

Big Jim M is the winner! It was a freeze plug...

Big Jim M: it was the freeze plug on the front of the passenger-side head, behind the alternator bracket. I replaced the heater supply hose while I was there. I removed the fan to have room to swing a sledge hammer to seat the plug. I then used a socket of slightly smaller diameter than the plug to drift it 2mm below the surface of the head. Filled with coolant, ran for 30 minutes...no leaks, no high temps...good to go! Thanks Big Jim M!--airborn
