So there are about five different sections I could have put this in, so if I chose incorrectly I apologize.

I have a 2001 Mazda b2500 that I am going to convert to 4wd. The suspension, axles, etc I can do no problem - my question is about transmissions and transfer cases. I was originally just going to throw a divorced case on, but would rather keep it all as one unit.

Is there a transmission/t-case combo that will bolt up to my current engine/bell housing? Most of the stuff I see on here involve egine swaps as well, but I'd like to keep my 4cyl.

I'd like to stick with a manual transmission if possible.

So is there anything out there that will work?

If you can find a transmission from a older 2.3L 4cyl 4WD ranger it will bolt directly to your 2.5. then you can use pretty much any RBV transfer case behind it.

other than that you can get a 4X4 tailhousing for your transmission, but that requires the dismantling of your tranny

It isn't only the tailshaft housing but the tailshaft itself that's different.

To swap the shaft the transmission must be completely disassembled.
