I have never had a problem with my D35, but you obviously wheel A LOT harder than I do. I tend to not bash things, but more take it slow and use the gears.
as tim said,
i've never had any problems on trails or in the rocks, the d35 mud plow always f's me in the mud and snow.. when i get stuck (always in the backyard), i tend to break things trying to get her out. i am always out alone, cuz its just my backyard.. i think a winch is the best mod i can do to my truck, to make the 35 last longer..
the trails around here generally have very minimal spots of deep mud, which is good, cuz i hate it.
on the trails i just crawl, barely need any gas (till the trans slips), but the 35 breaks in about 10 seconds when i'm stuck in the mud, forwards, backwards wheel side to side a bit.. an axle should be able to stand up to that, especially with only 33s and a slipping trans. im never giving it even half throttle when shit breaks.
once i conquer something, i look for something harder, i'm not satisfied just doing what i know the truck can do.. i think thats why a lot of people don't break things, they stay in their comfort zone. i don't go out and thrash the truck, or try completely stupid obstacles with it, but i don't drive down wet dirt roads and call it wheeling either.
