Does anyone know if kerosene can be used in a Coleman camp stove ?? It calls for "coleman stove fuel or Naptha gas " .

Me thinks I'll be looking for the right stuff before I go this weekend.

No, it won't run on Kerosene.

They make specific stoves for kerosene, but...

You can pick up coleman fuel by the gallon at literally ANY WalMart.

Currently it's about $8/gal, but a gallon lasts a long time.
also in it's original can the stuff stores indefinatly.

a Coleman stove can be made to run on pump gasoline, specific models are labeled as "dual fuel" or "Unleaded", but most stoves will operate longer without internal maintainance (replacing the gas generator) on Coleman fuel.

Thanks, thats what I thought.

BTW, I fired up the stove on fuel that's been in it's tank for about 3 years. worked just fine !! Thats the last time I used it.

You might be able to get a kero generator for it, but why bother.

I play with oil lamps, lanters, and the occassional Coleman lamp/lantern. Regular unleaded works well in them too. It will also probably run on acetone, benzene, naptha, or pretty much anything else that is really volatile.

I love my little coleman 502 stove. I use it to do everything from make pancakes when camping to heating parts in the shop. I even used it to heat a container of solder when i installed a bunch of knob and tube wiring.
