Has anyone attempted a 96-98 cobra motor swap?

Also, start watching "Trucks!" on Spike TV, they have done the swap on a '98 ranger.

Man that looks like a ton of work! I have a teksid block from a 96 cobra bored.20 over im thinking of using all forged and doing a twin setup,I come from the mustang world but dang that's a lot of work!

Yep. From what I've heard, it is a serious PITA. It's so much wide than other 6 bangers. Ask around though. Nothing what a torch and a sawzall can't fix.

GregR/281Ranger has a 4v 4.6 in his 2wd 98+ truck.

If you want a V8, just put in a 5.0, they are much smaller than the 4.6. But if you want a challenge then go ahead and do it and let us know how it goes!

GregR/281Ranger has a 4v 4.6 in his 2wd 98+ truck.

Forgot that on this site it's 281ranger, not GregR. See he is back on RPS, didn't sell his project and now is working on a late model 4x4 with 5.0L for his girl friend. Found his write up here:

The only cobra motor I would want in my ranger is an 03/04.


Otherwise I'm swapping 5.0s all day.
