Have a question. My buddy and I replaced the clutch in my truck and now my shift points seem different,by that I mean when I downshift from 4th to 3rd I have to let the rpm's drop even more than before so I can shift, same thing with 3rd to 2nd.What would cause it,improper timing, clutch not bled properly.Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Prolly that the synchronizers in the tranny are getting weak.

have you checked for proper oil level in the tranny?

The fluid level is fine and it does grind a little sometimes. There are times when it doesn't grind, guess it's moody. No,the clutch isn't slipping, that's not the problem.

If it's the linkage, how do I go about adjusting it,I don't want to screw anything up 'cause it's my dd right now.

If the synchro's go out can I still shift it at least?

If they are COMPETELY shot....odds are no.

But from what you're saying that you only have issues on the down shift....& no trouble on the up shift...correct?

did you go thru the tech Library the manual tranny section....& determine what gear box you have. there is one particular manual tranny that has a rebuilt kit for known issues. NOT to say that both can be rebuilt...just that one does have more of a reputation for issues

Yes,only on the downshift. The gears gring a lil on the upshift but the shift points are fine.If I hold the clutch in for a few seconds on the up shift then theres no grinding at all,it's wierd. It has the Toyo-Kogo 5 spd.

I like your saying on the bottom,I'm an old soldier and it's very true.
