you can get that disconnected without the tool, but be careful. There is a white plastic sleeve that you push on so it slides down and depresses some spring tines that are hooking on the end of the line fitting. The tool just presses on that plastic ring evenly. You can work it down with a flat head screw driver instead, while pushing in on the line...then lightly pull on it to try to get it out. Dont pull too hard though or you will bend the springs, and this makes things difficult because now your slave component is damaged.
