Ok so I finally got ahold of an fm146 4wd. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. Well here's my problem, I was goin to put in the m5od 2wd so I bought a master, slave, and clutch line pre bled kit from a 91 ranger 4.0

Will that clutch line work on an fm146 slave, or do I need to take the whole thing back? None of the auto stores or j/y can get a fm146 one(clutch line)...thanks guys and sorry for all the bs questions!

ok so the part numbers for the slave and clutch line match between the fm146 vehicles and m5od, so what about using my 91 master cyl with it? will it pose any problems over the 1st gen b2's master?

I have a hunch..

I know you want a solid YES..can't do that from experience..but i have both and they look similar..
of course the m50 came out in 88 in a 4cyl..i would think they would be the same..best wishes..

i guess ill try it. the hoses and the slave are the same part number for the fm146 and m5od ,but the part numbers of the master cyl are different. i dont see why the 4.0 master wouldnt work, it bolts to the firewall and clutch pedal. so i guess i will see

the slave cylinder isn't different specifically for the FM146. as the MAzda M5OD-R1,
M5OD-R2 and even the "small block bell pattern ZF trans accept the same slave cylinders
The slave cylinders are different on a year range basis.

The first "internal slave" is the 1895-87 type with the "Top connect" and "hairpin clip"
These only fit the T-K and FM145 trans

The second type used 1988-92 is the Aluminum slave cylinder all these take the same line with a Black (sometimes faded to a purple color) or Red coupler.
these fit all 1988-up manual transmissions

The third type is the 1993-up Slave cylinder with the Yellow/Gold connector
Cosmetically similar to the 1088-92 type but NOT compatible.

All clear now?
