Clutch compatibility question

i blew my clutch out on my 2.3 today and i have a spare clutch for a 2.9 and i was thinking i could use my clutch from the 2.9 for my 2.3................PLEASE RESPOND!!!! thanks in advance.

I do think they are the same clutch.

The only one that is different is the 4.0.

All the others, 2.9, 2.3, and 3.0 use the same P/N clutch.

typically the 2.9 clutch if a halfway descent one will have a slightly stiffer diaphram spring in it.

Basically you'll love it.

Worst case, it's exactly the same.

I ran the clutch numbers over here for you.The 2.3 2.9 & 3.0 are the same and the 4.0 is different.

I'm 99.9% sure that you can use a bigger 4.0 clutch on the 2.9 as well...

Yes you can....

But he wants to install a 2.9 clutch on his 2.3.

AFAIK, there is no flywheel available for a 2.3 that will accept a 4.0 clutch.
