This one has me puzzled. Lately my truck will make a sharp and quick clicking sound that will countinue untill the truck is stopped, and that slows down with the speed of the truck. Three different things will cause it -

Stomping the brakes at lower speeds.

Throw it hard into first (with the clutch engauged) at low speeds. Won't do it if I gentally slip it into first.

When I yank it out of 4th w/o pressing the clutch and accidentally tap 3rd gear.

THe sound seems like it's coming from my feet. Any ideas? :icon_confused:

I don't know what is causing it, but i know mine has done that before, but only when I hit the brakes hard. I always thought it was ABS, but i never get the normal ABS pulse. So maybe we are having the same kind of thing go on. I'm curious to see what others have to say.

Sounds like RABS (Rear ABS) coming on. Check to see if you have a short in the brake switch.

If the ABS is coming on when it should not. You will be able to feel it through the brake pedal.

I had a problem similar to this, except my ABS light came to indicate a problem. It turned out that the rear axle ABS ring sensor went bad. Replaced it, went back to normal.

Any way to disable the ABS altogether? I wonder if there is anything else on that fuse?

EDIT - Looks like fuse #14 (on mine) controls just the ABS.

4W ABS on a 2000?
Pulling the fuse will cause you to lose the speedo and cruise.

I've read that disconnecting a front sensor will kill ABS, but I think the dash light stays on.
