I'll post data logs off mine. Alternator load absolutely impacts engine load. You'll save 0.04 mpg, and across a fleet, make or break for emissions.

Right at insomnia fading. Nice to be able to choose to sleep. Longest I have in years. solid six hours every night vs 2.5-3.5 before. No more booze which is nice too. Depression lifting. Actually feel pretty OK in all this mess.

Ptsd fading fast. Feels good to let go.

Have sort of seen this pandemic as a gift. Look at what we've accomplished in eight weeks.


Unknown % of the population would have died, true. Look at how fast our turnaround has been on a vaccine. Four potential ones in eight weeks.That's normally a 10-40 year thing. That's incredible.

But uhhh alternators don't have clutches... so that makes no sense.

Nope, no clutch. Apparently the alternator works by passing electrical current through a magnet. When the electromagnet has current passing through it, the alternator generates electricity. So to turn off the alternator, the PCM turns off the current to the magnet. *POOF*. Just like a light switch.
