Christmas Shopping

Some years I can think of nice meaningful gifts for everyone.. some years I can't.

This is one of the years where I can't so.. everyone's getting a bottle of bourbon and a basket of cheese and sausage lol.

I was like 12 the 1st year I gave gifts at Christmas. Literally all but one of the people (thanks granny) actively complained. Ever since I've just handed out cash.

Jesus.. that's awful lol.

Once you were full grown did you beat everyone up for being jerks?

I mean I went thru a few years of anger problems. Nearly killed a couple of them. (They've reciprocated, not a monster. Yet.) I'm still working on it. Honestly having people here to talk to has made me a much more tolerant person. Y'all really are my best friends.

Enough about me. Some good ideas in here. Wife's mom does scratch offs. Kinda cool.

Gift cards are always the right size.
My granddaughter is 8 and she likes to make things so we always get her some sort of artsy-crafty kit.

In recent years I've learned to avoid such people. My late father-in-law was like that.

Id be ok with christmas being “retired”, when stores start the season in september Im more than ready for it to be over by thanksgiving. My wife loves the season & loves to decorate, I let her have that, theres over 10 trees in the house! one of the extra rooms is nothing but christmas storage. Its empty 1 month out of the year. I find it hard to buy for others, my parents are still here , not in the best of health & really don’t need anything. My daughter is 30, family of her own with a 10 year old & a 11 year old stepson. They were in a bad car wreck during the summer & currently have the ‘11 escape, while its the wifes work car Ive considered giving it to them, give Brenda my escape for a work car, the equinox can go back to being the weekend vehicle & I can pick up a $1300 marketplace find of a ‘01 2wd ranger flareside - a gift for me! lol. Im doing the gift card thing for the most part. Might wrap up AA batteries for the boys with a note that says “gift not included “ as a joke. I know Im hard to buy for, I need a tool- I buy it. And most other things Id want I would have to buy for myself as well.

If they aren't kids and can't provide any suggestions, cash spends everywhere.

got the rest bought & wrapped it all today. Boy do I miss back when the high school band would wrap gifts for donations. That’s money well spent. 2 hours of being on a hard floor getting stuff wrapped is painful. Glad thats all done.

Rustoleum Red?

It took me a little while, but here it is. If I wash the Road Ranger, it would be a perfect match I think.

I got my son a pound of coffee from the gourmet coffee shop (I clean their windows, they pay me in coffee), his girlfriend a gift card for a bookstore she likes, and each of them a four-pack of 16 oz. ales from my friend's brewery.
My daughter and son-in-law like to camp so I got them the same camp kitchen I bought for myself.

My parents bought All of their grandchildren 1 special gift each year.

My Mom would pick what it was because she was the one who would shop for it.

My oldest Niece would get a necklace of some kind every year for Christmas.
MY next oldest Niece would get a bell of some kind every year for Christmas.
My youngest Niece got an angel of some kind every year for Christmas.

My oldest nephew would get a clown of some kind every year Christmas.
( The funny part about him getting clowns every year for Christmas is we realize when he got older he was scared of clowns my mom still bought him clown of some kind every year for Christmas. )
One nephew was bears,
One nephew was horses,
One nephew was lyons,
and so on and so on and so forth.

I'm the baby out of my Parents children and each of my siblings have at least two kids each so that's why I just said and so on and so on and so on and so forth.

My parents would also buy them a couple outfits and other toys and other things but they always got their special gift as well.

I've noticed in my family that it seems like the younger the kid is the bigger the object they get for a present is.

And it seems like the older they are the smaller the present is.

I asked my oldest brother one time why it seemed like that and he said
" Because it is like that, little kids like to put things in her mouth so we buy them big things that won't be swallowed or become a choke hazard.

I don't know if this will be any help to you or not.
Or if it will be any help to anyone else. But I believe my parents had very good ideals about the special present for each grandchild.

Once they started having great grandchildren My Mom picked something for their special gift as well.

My parents are no longer with us and if they was they would have a lot more great grandchildren and even one great great grandchild at this point.

As I'm sure most people know about me by now,
I write a book when posting in a thread that I feel that I can be helpful in.
And to those of you who get tired of reading what I write,
If can write what I want to say a shorter way I'd be happy to let you teach me.
To everyone else,
I hope you enjoy what I write.

What you write is fine, very good.

The reason the presents get smaller as you get older is it’s very frustrating to walk around with a big clown
