Chevy Axles on a Ranger?

i've seen so many people swap yubes that way and the plug weilds always broke when put under stress and just spun the diff around the tubes my friends and i built a jig to do it this way if you know how to weild it won't break and there is alot more surface area to hold the tubes together.

Both methods will work, depending on your fabrication skills. A good welder wont warp the tubes when using the hack and weld method. A good welder will also make the drill and plug weld method just as strong as from the factory, I guess opinion and certain experience will determine the outcome.................

I've seen plug welds spin on some factory axles but only under high horsepower. I've put a completely stock 8.8 to some serious abuse, more than a stock one should hold and have yet to spin a tube. If you remove the tubes from the housing and swap them you are eliminating the extra variables of cutting the tubes. I'm not arguing that cutting the tubes won't work it will but adds more risk of screwing it up.
