I would rather have these...

for the price, I'd rather get a Kia Rio. We've had a couple of each at the body shop and surprisingly the Rio actually seems to have a little more quality, if you can figure that out.

Plus, it doesn't even get as good of gas mileage as the Cobalt, according to GMs own TV commercials!

I drive one for work. Shitty gas mileage, like someone already said. The road noise is incredible, you gotta turn the radio way up to even hear anything. It is a quick little car tho, does have a kinda fun to drive factor.

my best friend owns a pizza joint and has one of these for a "company" delivery car. he let me take it for spin around the block and my only comment to him was, "It's a gokart with windows."

I would not buy one personally but if someone gave it to me I would wheel the piss out of it till it broke!!

i sat in an aveo 4door sedan at an auto show 2 years ago. i couldn't believe how poor the quality was. i'd suggest a yaris. i know a guy who had one and loved it. i also know a guy with a kia (spectra i think) and it has a honda engine in it.

I would go for a Honda Civic or Toyota Coralla. As is, I actually ride a 06' Kawasaki KLX250s dualsport for my commuter. Nothing beats a fun ride while still getting 65mpg.[/QUOTE]

Yup. Those aveos are pure crap. I'd do the civic over the corolla... toyota parts are HIGH compared to Honda's.

I was looking at them when my Neon work beater croaked. On the salesman's recommendation I ended up with a low-mile used Focus instead for slightly less money and no doubt a better car overall. It's a Ford and Chevy dealer, same owner, buildings across the street from each other and he could have sold me either one. As an economy car it's fine but I'd have doubts that one would hold up for ten years or 100k.

If you're looking for a cheap, half reliable ecnobox of a car, look at the Hyndai Accent. Keep it for the time its on warranty and you should do fine. A buddy of mine had one and he ended up with about 270 000 on it when he wrote it off, it was a 2001. Also a guy I worked with had a 2000, and he put 360 000 on his with no major problems, however, since the car came from Nova Scotia, the car rotted apart. Not a bad car, I'm debating one right now, buy it cheap, and sell it to pick'n'pull when I run out of gas.

It's not a KIA, it a GM Daewoo.

The Ford Expire was a KIA. Hyundia bought KIA ten years ago during the Asian collapse. Ford had to increase it's interest in Mazda at the same time to prevent Mazda from being taken over.

You're right. My bad. But its still a POS GM Daewoo product. Not too many Korean cars except the Hyndai are top quality. Or either that, every driver that did own one drove it like it was in NASCAR.

A friend of mine has one, and we're always giving him shit about it, but he's rallied it around for a couple years now and it hasn't given him any problems. He even found out through an Aveo forum that you can put a civic header on it, with a slight bit of ovaling of the mounting holes. He's got that and a cold air, and it zips pretty good. Would I ever own one? HELL NO!

My step-dad bought one in 06 i think... it was like 8k brand new. It is a 4 door 5 speed. from what i know he hasn't had any problems at all. He constantly gets 33 MPG but he drives worse than a 90 year old grandpa. never brings the engine over 2k revs.....

He gets soooooo pissed when i rev my 4.0 in the b2 over 5k. he says im gonna blow it up.... knock on wood lol. I just tell him why would they (Ford) put a tach in with red line at 5.5k if they knew it was gonna blow up...:shok:

HEY you gotta burn all that carbon build up off the pistons and whatnot every once in a while:icon_rofl:

In conclusion,
If you want a very cheep, decent mileage, girly lookin car... more power to ya!

+100
Pay a little extra and get either one. If you plan not keeping them until the wheels fall off, either one will retain their value when you sell them.
my 2 cents

A guy at work has one of those (stock of course!), seems to like it. I'd be nervous on the freeway though, like driving a golf cart!

I don't know about the new Saturns, but I like mine. Averages 36 mpg commuting and a little town driving, and I've gotten up to 45 pure interstate. Ain't gonna win any races, but at least I can afford to drive it! And it looks halfway sharp for a Saturn.
