Salvage Ranger #1: This is about 15 minutes from me. It's a 1987 Ford Ranger 4x4 long bed with a Dark Walnut exterior and Chestnut interior. It has factory A/C. Don't know what's wrong with it. Bill of sale (In Texas you can get a bonded title). I dig the patina. I'd fix it up, polish the paint, clear or linseed oil the patina, add some white wheels and a white 80's farm style grill guard, paint a logo on the doors, and use it as my shop truck to haul stuff in. Check It Out.

Salvage Ranger #2: This one is about 2-hours away. It's a 1987 Ford Ranger 2WD. It's listed as a long bed, but that looks like a short bed to me. I said I wasn't going to build another white truck, but I dig this one as well. It already has white wheels. I'd clean it up, convert it to 4WD (I know where there's a frame with a D35, t-case, and transmission) and convert it into a shop truck as well. I wouldn't repaint it, just clean it and add a logo, grill guard, etc to make it look like an old farm truck or service garage truck. Again, this would be for me to haul stuff in since TRS-1 has a cage in the bed and TRS-2 has a bed rack. Check it out.

I see people paint 'patina' onto trucks. I really dig the first truck with the real patina. It would look cool with a white TRS logo painted on the door and weathered. Create something like this, but more of a TRS Garage truck.

It's listed for $2k which is crazy. I doubt it runs, or it wouldn't be sitting there. Either there's a problem with the 2.9L, or the A4LD is shot (or both LOL).

This guy has a field full of vehicles he's trying to sell, so I'm thinking I could get it cheaper. If I couldn't get it under $1,000, maybe I could find some parts to package into a deal for $1,000.

The white one would be cool as a 4x4 short bed. You rarely see that.

A quick way to tell shortbed vs longbed, on a shortbed the fuel fill door is really close to the front of the bed like that white truck. On a longbed it is approximately 9-12" from the front of the bed.

Brown truck would be interesting but I bet it will need at least floors judging by the moss growing on the carpet.

It would be nice to sneak up on a solid southern std cab with a clean title...

If you want a really killer shop truck, here ya go...

Unfortunately the economy has gotten to the point where we need to sell. It's a unicorn so we are having a hard time coming up with a fair price point to list it at.
-1989 Ranger STX custom build for a multi-issue project for Offroad Magazine in 1990
-140,000 on the odometer
-Runs fine but has an exhaust manifold leak
-Shocks need replacing
-Needs tires
-Bed has bad rust
-Missing the 4x4 gearing, stereo and spare tire rack in the bed as it was removed by a previous owner.
-Previous owner painted the roll bar and bumbers black but it is flaking and the original red paint is underneath.
-Everything is original including the glass except for the missing parts listed above.
It has been garage kept since we bought it 4 years ago.

(found on a facebook group, guy is trying to figure out what to list it for while fishing for buyers)

That's ok, but this is way cooler. Manny Esquerra raced standard cabs.

Oh wait.....

Ok @85_Ranger4x4 I see what you're say. You're saying I should buy the white ranger and modify it to look like this one! I have the autographed version of this poster hanging in my house that was given to me by Chuck Johnson (short guy middle right).

Oh but wait, I could get the white one, add the stripes and paint the hood black and replicate Chuck Johnson / Scott Douglas' Ranger......

You know what, you're a bad influence.

Damn. Now I need both trucks. The brown one as a patina shop truck, and the white was as a Class 700 truck.

I need to sell a whole lot of key chains. LOL :icon_twisted:

non-running stuff for $2k seems insane for me, but that is kinda reflective of economy "where I am" relative pricing....

FWIW, a "running" starting stopping RBV for $800 seems a lot more realistic - especially if 1/10th of what the guy says is true:

for those that don't facebook:
$800, known blown head gasket, includes a video of it starting up and running for 3 seconds:
"Runs, currently on its 3rd engine and was told this one has a blown head gasket so if that doesn't bother you this is a solid car. Top paint worn, rust spots next to wheel wells, passenger door panel broken, sometimes working stereo, and a piece missing out the the grille are the other defects I know about. Has a trailer brake controller. Wired for a subwoofer (tucked wiring in behind the back seat). "

granted it's an '91 explorer not a ranger but I've spotted more than a few $500 not running rangers in pastures around here.

That extended cab is actually for sale in FB too if you really want a bad influence...

The guy with the Brown Ranger has a ton of vehicles and I think he's just listing every one of them at $2,000 to get them listed. I'd rather be at $500 unless it runs and drives. His ad even says that if you see something in the background that you want to contact him.

The extended cab is a swing and a miss. I see to many things that need redone. The spacing in the 'Motorcraft' lettering makes me crazy just looking at it. I'd rather start with a blank slate.

I like the way you called the rusty one "dark walnut" instead of "rusty".

I'd roll Walnut just for the tilt wheel.:p

there's an early 70s chevy for sale locally to me with similar patina to that first truck, I feel the same way about it

Drooling over that white one..
