check engine light/ vehicle not responding

hey guys, its been a while and ive got a new problem (go figure)
my check engine light comes on while driving so i took it to schucks because they have an odb1 tester. when i plugged it in, and did everything the way your supposed to, the damn thing says "vehicle not responding"
any advice on what that means?

Might not have the correct reader...or...there wasn't a very good connection to it??

you may have a broken wire for the reader port??

the reader may not go back that far....

The Tech Library has good info for getting codes without the reader
