Cheap ways to make power?

Haven't had one yet... haha

Maybe checking the timing might be a good thing too :icon_idea:

I thought the top speed was normal for this thing. Magna, is yours a 2.9? And are you in the wheels forums too?
Mine would do 90+(MPH) no problem...
Oops, double post :sorrysign:

Alright. School's back up on Monday so I'll see if I can nab a timing gun out of the shop and see if that's the problem.

So a 2.9L 5 speed 4x4 Ranger should be able to hit 90 mph?

It's not safe (145kph), but yes. It's likely your tires are not even rated for those speeds. The Ranger itself is prone to rolling over... My boss had a tie rod break on his Ranger at 50mph (80kph) and ended up upside down in a field.

Edit:
Before digging into the engine, how well does the truck coast? Sometimes a sticky brake or something similar can keep you from moving... Just a thought..

Yeah, I drive like a grandma anyways and tend to avoid the highway, but some passing ability would be nice. And the coasting feels alright compared to the F-150. Just had the transmission cleaned out and it feels a little bit better but doesn't seem to go any faster. I'll try the timing this weekend and come back here and whine about it if it doesn't do anything :P

Thanks man.
