Changing Ball Joints..


You use a slide hammer with a spindle nut attachment to pull the spindle. Once the spindle is off the axle shafts just pull out. Except the passenger inner shaft, the diff has to come off of the beam to remove the E clip from the end of the shaft.

Knowing that would have saved me a lot of time. I finally had to use a very fine chisel to get them to budge.
 
but i shouldnt need to do that right? It splits half way correct? About how long has a job like this taken you guys?

as for how long...it always takes longer than you think :P

in a few weeks when i do a front end swap from my ranger back to my bronco im planning on 4 days so i can take my time, clean everything up, and redo everything. will it take me this long? no, probably only 2, 1 if i felt like busting my ass to get it done...but im lazy and like plenty of time
