hello everybody here is my problem and since i am fairly new to rangers i need some help. I have a 1985 ranger that i put a motor from a aeroster in and now when it is cold it misses and backfires and runs like crap. But when it warms up it seems like a relays clicks a vaccum opens or some thing because this motor kicks in and starts running real strong with no misses or anything and the rpms and everything is right there. I was just wondering if anyone out there in cyber land has had this problem before and what the cure was.

Did you check the timing, vaccum lines? Does the choke work properly? What year is the of the motor you put in? A little more info might help out if possible.

Thx

seems like a carb problem. when the motor is cold the choke plate is closed til
it warms up then it opens. seems like the carb may be out of adjustment.

i Put in a2.8 out of 1985 frod aerostar. everything bolted up and fit just fine except for this little problem

Was the carb. cleaned out? My dads has a relay that clicks when it warms up and only clicks when the motors rpms drops when he pushes the clutch petal, and when going to stop or shift gears. My dads is a manul choke now because of problems with the automatic choke but he doesnt use it in the summer.
