Is it better to go with a 4.0 sohc or a v-8 ? just looking for opions. This is for my 92 Ranger. I have a 2004 explorer with the 4.0 in it and it seems to have a lot of power for as heavy as it is.Would apreciate your thoughts on the subject.

The SOHC motor will get in the way of the heater box I think it is, plus a good bit of those motors had recalls for timing chain tensioner issues, is the ranger 4X4 or 4X2?

I can't say I've attempted a 4.0L SOHC swap into that year, but I hear it's a major pita because the computer system is OBD-II.

Are you crafty with metal (V8), or superb with wiring (4.0L SOHC)? :)

Pete

I know I had thought of the SOHC swap into mine too but Idk if thats going to happen in the 92 maybe the 96 someday.
