Notice the essential hip flask full of fuel...
Probably about E35.Notice the essential hip flask full of fuel...
I only use those shirtless. And when women are around.
I’m a stihl fan, I used them as a kid, my dad owned stihl lawn equipment, and I have purchased them for keeping upmy own property. I’m convinced they make a pretty solid small 2 stroke motor. If I were in the market for a chainsaw, I wouldn’t hesitate to pay the few extra bucks for the stihl chainsaw, if taken care of I would imagine it would be the last chainsaw you would ever have to buy.
My $0.02.
I got one of those on a lark years ago, and it ran great so I ran 2 tanks in a row through it. Couldn't feel my hands for a few hours after. So I got a carcass with an A/V suspension and combined the parts. Of course somewhere in there it got mildly ported, the muffler got opened up and I dropped a larger carb on. One of my favorite saws with 12" bar, I use it all the time! It's so light and useful. Changing the fuel lines in those is no fun though.I just pulled out my saw... bought it in... oh hell I don't remember. It hasn't ran since I moved to Illinois... 7 years ago. I have a smallish maple tree that the wife planted way to close to the house and it needs to come down. I cut down a couple overgrown arborvitaes with my Sawzall yesterday... but I'm gonna need to get this guy fired up for the Maple. It fired right up and ran good last time I used it... somehow I feel it won't be the case this time.

Was going to get the MS180. 16in bar, 31cc, 2.0hp.
Till i got there and seen the 211 for 80 bucks more. Its got an 18in bar, 2.3hp, anti vibration, easy open fuel/oil lids, and overall just fell more robustly built then the 180.
I got the saw, one gallon of stihl pre mix 50:1 and a gallon of stihil bar and chain out the door for 344. Didnt think that was bad.
Im gonna go out and put it thru its paces tomorrow.
I don't think you did bad. Just remember, it ain't broke in until the paint is missing from the bar.
I want to get a smaller saw for odd jobs that don't need more than a 14"-16" bar myself. The MS311 with a 20" bar is nice and all but over kill on anything smaller than playing chainsaw hero for the day.
LOL... I don't have any plans to trick this one out. I bought it for yard maintenance and I always took it on my hunting and camping trips. I didn't get a chance to fool with it today but it came out of the shed and into the garage. It is on the agenda this week. It's been good for all that I do with it.
