Well my little bro wants to use the chainsaw with no chain to freak out some people this halloween. But isn't that bad for engine? I just think I remember hearing that somewhere. Can anyone help me out?

i doubt it just dont hold the trigger all the way down for the entire time its on, but i thought about doing it too, but my chainsaws too hard to get the chain off, thats the best scare tactic of haloween

Ain't going to sound the same without the chain rattling around the bar.

I hope he doesn't get shot.

It ain't bad for it. And it'll actually work better because the little engine revs up faster without the chain on it. Great for scarin people!

or keep the chain on and really scare people

Yeah, but we don't have a chain dull enough that I would let him keep on it. Hell, its probably his first time holding the thing. But thanks for the words guys. Not as worried about it coming home broken now.

As for getting shot, most people who have seen any scary movies know that pulling a gun won't do them any good :idiot:

ummm.. it wont hurt it just dont hold it wide open for even a short pieod of time, dont go passed half ... i sell and fix them for a living.

you can crack the gas but dont hold it wide open without the chain, it wont have the drag its is ment to have so it WILL over rev the motor, possible blowing it up, plus it is not good for the clutching system either..

we wont even test saws at our shop without a bar and cahin on it, we will idel them and slightly crack the throdle, but nothin passed half way..

i might be too late for this, but if it blows, you will know why

Kris

whoops, we'll see what happens. I suppose. If it were to blow, what do you think the price of a new engine would be. Just buy a new saw?

Probably junk it, a good name brand saw you could fix but even then by the time you figure parts and labor you might as well get a new one.
