Anyone ever use this? I found it today in the dollar general on sale for $1.50

I'm thinking about putting it in my truck (oil pan leaks) but I have no clue if it would harm my engine or not.. it say's that it doesn't.

If it stops the leak I'll do an oil change right afterwards. I have 5 quarts of castrol GTX and a filter sitting around anyway. Got it as a package deal at advance for less than the cost of the 5 quarts. Go figure.

The stop leak container looks like this if that helps.

CD-2 Engine Oil Stop Leak.

I googled it and so far I haven't seen anything bad. I'll put it in tomorrow morning before I head out to work and if it seems like it's working I'll pick up a 2nd bottle and toss it in there (I'll probably go through a quart or two next week with all the driving I'll be doing)

Bump. I have the stuff with me.. just waiting for input before I decide to toss it in.

I usually make a rule to fix the leak mechanically instead of chemically... The only thing that goes into my oil is oil... It might fix it for now, but, more than likely will cause more problems down the road, either by gumming something up or leaking again...

ussually the stop leak works on rubber by making them swell up. so if the pan is not rubber your not going to see any change but i will cuz the other seal like the front and rear main seals wear faster

just play it safe. drain the oil take the oil pan off and change the gasket.

Yeah, but apparently to do that I'd have to pull the engine, or jack up the engine and drop the trans.

It's not the gasket, gaskets fine. It has holes in the pan.

If you have holes in the pan, that product will not help at all.

Then stop leak isn't gonna help. Like 351Ranger said, stop leak works by swelling gaskets. It doesn't fill in holes in metal. Go ahead and dump it in, it won't hurt anything, but I highly doubt it'll help.

You may be able patch the pan holes with JB weld or Liquid Steel puddy.

if ur going to use jb weld like tomb1269 said remeber to drain the oil and clean and sand the holes down first and clean where u sanded so it will stick and u will get the max out of ur money and the jbweld. i have never had any luck with oil stop leak it just waste my money so i cant but the new seals to do it myslef.

Hmm.. says on the pack that it doesn't help gasket leaks but holes. Go figure.

I'm not gonna dump it in, if there's a chance it could hurt the engine I'm not even going to bother.
