cb problem

Ya the mic is plugged in when I mounted the antenna to my truck I ran two antennas on my box one real one fake to mount the fake one I tucked some wire under the box where it mounts up. Would that cause this to happen?

hook a buddies cb up and try it. might be the radio. i love my $36 midland i get 15-20 miles in the city with just the radio

I'd probably remove the length of coax wire from the "fake" antenna, just to minimize any effects it's capacitance might have on your "real" antenna. However this wouldn't completely block all reception of all signals though... Make sure that nothing is grounded out anywhere (such as the plastic washer on the antenna mount missing or installed wrong).

It's also not unheard of to have a defective preinstalled connector on the coax cable. Get a volt-ohm meter (or a continuity indicator) and see if you have continuity at both ends of the cable at the center pins, at the ground (shield) connections, and that there is NO continuity from center to ground.

if the fake antenna's wire's not connected to anything, it won't make any difference really...

the presence of another antenna can make a slight impact, but not enough to mention, and i don't feel like explaining how right now... for what you're worried about, forget you've got another antenna on there, all together

ok well I should have mentioned this before but my truck is body lifted would that mess it up?
