Carrier for 7.5 and 8.8 the same?

I mispurchased a lockright 1830 for a 7.5 28 spline diff, my truck has a 8.8 28 spline... So now I am stuck with a $300 paper weight since I bought it from an online store over three months ago. I was wondering if by some far cry of a chance, the carrier gears that are replaced by the lockright may be the same on the 7.5 28 spline and the 8.8 28 spline diffs? If they are not the lockright will be in the buy&sell forum.

Gears and carrier bearings are different, Not sure about the carrier itself, maybe someone can chime in...

..I'll keep looking.

Yeah, they're different, the 7.5 is a little smaller, has 10 ring gear bolts, the 8.8 has 12 bolts, and appears to be a little bigger.

if the lockright is the right price i might be interested (hate to spend too much money on the 7.5 when i want to put an 8.8 in someday).
