so this weekend i am getting a 5.0 :yahoo: and planing on swapin it in to a ranger extendded cab not sure year yet still looking hoping for a 1998-2001 but idk yet i am not sure if i wana run the carburated 5.0 or the efi 5.0 i can get either for about the same price what would be better for mpg and power

Me, I would go efi if I were driving it a lot. If it was just for a sunday driver or weekend warrior a carbenator it would be.

if you do the 98-01 go efi. From what I have been reading it is not that bad of a swap (am getting ready to do this swap myself so I have been researching a bunch)

Definately EFI. Geth THIS BOOK (search the ISBN at bookfinder.com and probably get it cheaper) and you'll see how easy EFI is to deal with.

The only difficult part of EFi is tuning the EEC-IV. But EFI has the potential for way more power. Its an age old arguement, but in the end EFI wins. Carb'd would be an easier install and much cleaner I think. Given the weight of the ranger there would be plenty of power with a carb'd motor if you went that rought. But if your gonna sink the money into it. I would go with theEFIsetup.
