SO im going to try n tackle the rebuild on my carb
With the how to in the tech section its step by step...

However somethings bound to go wrong!
Anyone have any tips... or ran into any problems i should be aware of...

and today i noticed the driver side of my carb (throttle)
When throttle is pulled it seems like its supposed to come back and hit this pin
i dont know what this pin does but it misses this pin i dont know if it bent or what can someone help me out!

The main problem im having is...

When i rev it up it stays there...
Ill roll to a stop sign and it takes about 2 minutes for it to come down slightly...

Anyone have any ideas...

I heard possibly a stuck PCV ill check that later today...

But please guys help me out!

I don't have any help on the carb rebuild but your idle problem may also be the idle control motor. bad about sticking. I had the same problem so I got rid of it. on the carb issue I'm doin the duraspak conversion soon. VERY soon.

I can't help you out on the rebuild, I do know these carbs are notorious for giving problems & can be quite a PITA!! I had problems with mine for years & finally did the D/spark conversion......:yahoo: If you can get away with doing that...(it all depends on how your local emissions standards are)...you will be very happy!! :D

As much as I love these engines, I despise the carb setup Ford used on them. Sorry I couldn't be any help. Good luck!! :icon_thumby:

From the past:
Not much other than the usual keep it clean. Use chapstick on the gaskets so you can remove them easily later, if needed. The floats seem a little harder to align when putting the top back on. That's all I can think of for now.

AND:
Clean. Like most mechanical things get it clean and keep it clean; blow out everything with compressed air.
Be careful with the screws because the carb bodies are soft metal and easy to strip or cross thread.
Coat the top gasket with Chapstick - the wax makes disassembly later easy.
Be careful with the floats when reassembling.

Im putting a TBI on my 2.8 when I put the motor in. Got the TBI for free (thanks dad). But the only thing I can say is to duraspark it. I'd do it if I had the money, but im taking free.:icon_cheers:

Hahah nice so yea i needed a whole new body the butterfly rod completety wore down causing the biggest vac leak and the bugger who had the truck before me tried compensating and messing with idle and mixture screws to TRYYY! and make it better lol..

Then wen to the CA smog shop and got laughed at... thus me buying a truck for 350$ haha and getting a new used carb and rebuilding that bad boy... nbow i just need to get it tuned and replace the valve stem seals and should be good!
