Im 19, i have had my license for 1 year and 2 weeks with no tickets or accidents, and my insurance is 235 a month for only my 95 ranger, thats through progressive and with bare minimum coverage. this was the cheapest insurance i could find, tried allstate, geico, esurance, etc. and they wanted more. why the hell am i paying so much?

Did you ask that question of progresive?Go to the source.

Because you're still an inexperienced driver and considered a high exposure risk to the insurance companies. I had to wait until I was 25 until my rates dropped substantially.

Now, 225 is still a little high it seems. Is the car in your name? If so, you'll generally pay more.

that is crazy i only pay $78 a month for liability for my 89 4x4 through state farm. and i am only 22

Holy crap, I bought the Camaro in my sig when I was 18, full coverage on that thing, and full coverage on my '92 Ranger together was only $260 a month... Both titles in my name... I think you're getting screwed... I only pay $85 a month now, full coverage on my '00 Ranger, just comprehensive on the BII, and 'Maro (BII doesn't run, Camaro is garaged till Summer)

I Believe it's a rip off, Like state taxes.. I can remember when there was no sales tax or income tax in my state..I can even recall people talking about how there was no requirement for auto insurance.. As long as we let the rats stay in power things will not change. I guess thats why were taught EVolution in society so the big rats will not turn into apes!
I may be Naive but I honestly believe God is in control and is going to make the real truth known in such a way that all will see him.

It could have something to do with where you live, and what level of insurance is required. All states set their own rules.

Because yungun's have a stereotype that mostly proves true. Get a quote from DirectGeneral.com. They are 200 a month cheaper than progressive.

I watched two old people back into each other the other day and neither stopped. Thats why youngun's get teh name for accidents, that a booz, lol.

Young Males also pay up to 3 times as much as young females. We're both young, so the insurance companies are just covering their bases. Because of our "ignorance" behind the wheel, we're bound to mess up sooner or later.

Men are pegged as the aggressive, vehicular manslaughter causing machines. Even though statistics say we get in more deadly car wrecks, women are far, far more likely to get in an accident/fender-bender.

I have never seen a multi-million dollar settlement in a fender bender though.

Yeah, I think it's just the fact that males are more likely to get into an accident that the insurance company would be FORCED to pay, whereas females may have more fender benders that are resolved without insurance intervention...

:shok: I pay state farm $257 for SIX months on my 97 tan reg cab 2wd, it works out to $43+_ per month, and that is for more than bare minimum coverage, I am 21 year old male and title is in my name. Can you get any good student discounts?

Shop around, that's crazy.
Maybe because you're young but try amica,
they'll give you a quote online, best deal I could find.

That's rediculously high. I'm 20, 21 in 2 months, had my licence since I was 17, no tickets or violations, and for my 93 its $69/mo through Progressive....I'd get that checked out if I were you.:icon_confused:

because they CAN. and in other b.s. they can check on your driving record without your knowledge/permission. i was involved in a rear-ender with the taurus, i was passing and the car i was trying to pass made a turn into a private drive without signalling, my rates never changed, but a year later i was in a 45 doing 53 (cruise didnt work and i was talking to the wife, july 4 ) in the truck and got stopped, 3 moths later i get a letter from the ins. saying my rates were going up. it was a completely clear day, no traffic and didnt result in any ins claim. as soon as i could i paid off the truck and dropped both vehicles to bare minimum legal coverage. i dodnt think they should have any right to my private record. if it aint costing them any $ then it shouldnt be any of their bussines. i cant get anyone elses driving record, i dont see how its legal for them. if you ask me "law enforcement" is merly "revenue generation" or they would actually do something about the drunks on the road. having a older paid off vehicle helps in the ins cost, being over 25 and i think mine may have dropped some when i got married also.
