Can't open the door? Any Ideas?

Hello. Thanks for reading my post. I have several issues I need to tackle and get advice on. But first, I need help on how to get the drivers side door to even open.

*The outside handle broke off in my hands. The inside door latch does not work. The pull-up lock/unlock engages; I can feel it, but that doesn't open the door. I can't even see a rod to grasp with my needle-nose pliers, and I'm just lost on how to even get the door open to remove the inside door panel and start fixing it.

*Any ideas?

I’m curious if anyone has any suggestions because my one parts donor is like that and I haven’t been able to release it even tearing the interior handle apart to get to the rod it controls but it’s like the latch itself failed or something.

from a 2005 factory manual, should be similar to a 1999.
#2 is the rod from handler to lock mechanism.

can't tell if it's push down or pull up.

Thanks for the reply. The pull-push rod is fine; it's the latch and handle. I did get it open. I removed the door panel from the inside while shut (pain in the %$%&). Had to push back and lay down the seats.....Then I had to reach into the door cavity and open the latch manually, which took a minute to figure out....So, I ordered a new handle and will put it back together once it arrives. But an old truck, so always something....Thanks for your replies.

*Still a few issues I need help with, but I will post that separately.
