i can't get the driveshaft off my 1990 ranger 2.3 L, i have the motor and tranny out because i blew the tranny, but i removed the 4 bolts holding the drive shaft to the rear end. I hit it with a hammer and it just wont come off. I got the drive shaft off my automatic ranger but it wont come off this ranger, its a manual if that matters.

Yeah dude, just smack that sucker, use a dead blow or brass hammer.

Yep, probably just some rust around the centering bore on it. Try prying it loose with a thick screwdriver or prybar maybe.

Got a bottle jack? Push up on it to force it loose. Don't lift the truck much, because when it breaks loose it'll fall. Just put some force on it, then start smacking it and it'll come loose.

PB blaster is your friend. Hose it down and go to bed.

Werd. Don't pound it too much. Time to put all those gym reps and protein powder to work.

Could always wedge it with something (steel bar, etc) and then roll the truck... Should pop it loose.

It should break free with after a little PB blaster, and pry downward(not with a thin object that could dent or ding the shaft btw)

Put it in gear and floor it...just kidding. Get a sharp chisle and put between the mating surfaces. Few good smacks with a hammer, clean up the high spot with a file and done.
